I’ve completed a variety of data science projects outside of my professional and academic work. A few examples are below:

Trainings

Python for Data Science - Business Analytics @ University of Cincinnati

I am co-designed, co-developing, and co-delivering two separate two-day data-science–focused Python training workshops for the University of Cincinnati. The details are as follows:

  1. Introduction to Python for Data Science - this two-day workshop will focus on developing the fundamentals of Python of a programming language, learning the basics of data wrangling with pandas data frames, and teaching a mental model of Python as a programming language to enable future self-learning.

  2. Intermediate Python for Data Science - this two-day workshop will focus on developing skills in core areas of data science like predictive modeling while also teaching intermediate programming concepts like control flow, iteration, and function writing in the context of pandas.

Packages

flxr - An R package for retrieving movie data

flxr is an R package for retrieving movie data. It can be found on GitHub.

Open-source contributions

cattonum - An R package for feature encoding

cattonum is an R package for feature encoding. It was created and is maintained by Bernie Gray - it is available on CRAN and GitHub.

I am a credited contributor on cattonum after adding median target encoding to the arsenal of encoding methods.

skimr - An R package for frictionless summary statistics

skimr is an R package for frictionless summary statistics. It was created and is maintained by Elin Waring but has had many contributors - it is available on CRAN and GitHub.

I am a credited contributor on skimr after adding the whitespace statistic to summarizations of character-vector variables.
